Mikan x Blackmomille
Japanese antique textiles meet French embroideries.
Blackmomille is a French artist and embroidery maker. Together with Mikan, they share a common interest in reviving old garments and recycling pieces of clothing into new creations.
After selecting the fabrics - silks from antique Japanese kimonos - the embroidery is created on them, prior to the bagmaking. The needlework is executed following traditional methods and the patterns are inspired by Natural and seasonal elements. Each embroidery of the collection represents between 3 and 15 hours of handwork, on top of the bagmaking process. After being assembled, the bags are covered with a water-repellent coating which protects the embroidery and the silk from friction and humidity.
