This clutch is made with the silk of an antique kimono.
Recycling kimono textiles into bags and other small accessories seems very popular nowadays but it is not a new trend. It was always common for kimono owners to turn them into accessories once their family kimono are worn out or if an inherited kimono is not worn anymore. Weavers and sewers knew that the effort they put into their creation was meant to survive through generations.
The motif represents plum blossoms, peonies and maple leaves.
The clasp lock is mounted on a chiselled metallic frame.
Condition
Used, in good condition, with no noticeable stain or damage.
