There are many kinds of Japanese hand fans, for different purposes. This one is designed for traditional dancing but can also be appreciated as a decorative object.

The paper is covered with a pearly background and covered with various circles framing irises and abstract gold lines. All elements are handpainted identically on both faces of the object.

The bamboo structure and entirely covered with black lacquer.

A piece of lean is encrusted in the bamboo slats on each side which gives the dancer a better sensation when holding the fan during the performance. Since it is also covered with lacquer, it is not really visible.

Composition

  • handpainted Japanese washi paper

  • lacquered bamboo structure

  • lean weights incrusted

Condition

Used. A few creases here and there and light stains. The paper is worn off on the edges, it is not so visible because the fan has been kept reasonably clean. Near the signature, on both sides, there is a small red stain. Taking these aspects into consideration, the price is lower than other similar items in greater conditions.
