Vintage Kimono Clutch - Peonies

This clutch is made with the silk of a vintage kimono.
Recycling kimono textiles into bags and other small accessories seems very popular nowadays but it is not a new trend. It was always common for kimono owners to turn them into accessories once their family kimono are worn out or if an inherited kimono is not worn anymore. Weavers and sewers knew that the effort they put into their creation was meant to survive through generations.
A motif is handpainted and represents peonies. Another motif is visible in the texture of the fabric and is woven into the fabric. It represents a mystical bird called Houou 鳳凰 (Japanese phoenix bird).
The clasp lock is mounted on a metallic frame with resin on the top.

Used, in good condition. No noticeable damage.
