Dance paper fan - Water stream
Details & Origin
Dance fans appear during the Muromachi era (1336-1573). They commonly feature natural elements patterns such as of clouds, mist and water. This one has both faces identical, covered with pearly painting and decorated with thin water stream lines. A piece of lean is encrusted in the bamboo slats on each side which gives the dancer a better sensation when holding the fan during the performance.
