This coin pouch was handcrafted with fabrics made in Kyoto, called Kyo-ori. Kyoto is , well-known for its textile production which is among the finest. In recent years, the weavers diversify their production to offer smaller items adapted to modern life. This coin pouch is one example.
The item was found new and the label on it indicates 京織 (“Kyo-ori“ )and 品質保証 (“Hinshitsu hoshō”) which is a seal of quality.
The inside is made of plaine blue silk.
The pattern represents a landscape with different plants, shrines and dears, evoquing the city of Nara. The shimmering motif shines and shimmers when the pouch moves in the light.
