Create a souvenir bag from scratch
What you’ll do
I will welcome you in one of my studio in Arashiyama. You will choose your favourite fabric from a selection of antique Japanese kimonos and obis.
I will show you how to turn them into a brand new bumbag, teaching you every step of the way. If you have no sewing experience, don't panic! I will teach you the basics and guide you through the whole process.
Many beginners joined this workshop in the past and they always leave with a beautifully made bag. You can previously made bags further on this page.

10:00 to 16:00
Depending on participants’ pace and levels it can last an hour more or less. This includes a 1 hour lunchbreak (meal not provided).
For lunch, there is a nice old soba restaurant just around the corner but you can also bring a lunchbox and eat at the venue if you prefer (kettle and microwave available). The exact address of the workshop will be shared at the time of booking.

Special sessions at a Buddhist temple - Oct. 19th to 28th
If you book a session between those dates, the workshop will exceptionally be hosted at Horenji Temple. This is NOT in Arashiyama but closer to the city center. Prices and times remain the same. You can still visit Arashiyama after the experience by taking the tramway at Shijo-Omiya station (12 min walk from the temple).
Designs
Origami Clutch
It will embellish your outfit the same way a piece of jewellery would. Bringing a touch of light and sophistication.
Sturdy but lightweight, it allows you to keep all your essentials within reach comfortably. The chain is removable and the colour can be customized during the workshop.

Pleated Bum bag
Slightly different than the Hard Bumbag (available in my store or during the 2-hour experience), this model is soft and keeps almost flat against your body. It expands as you fill it up.
The colour of the zip will be decided between three options: black, silver or gold. You can have a look at a few examples below. The combination possibilities are endless!
