MOTIF

There is a wide variety of botanical patterns represented on kimono and obi, some of them considered auspicious since ancient times!

This is the case for the long bamboo grass leaves and the cloud-shaped pine branches represented here. We can also see Momiji - Japanese maple leaves - Sakura - cherry blossoms - turtle scales, vines, chrysanthemums and Temari -Japanese silk-woven handballs. This obi features a lot of golden elements on a black background. It is designed to be worn for formal ceremonies all year-round.

FABRIC

  • technique: jacquard

  • weft: golden lamé thread & coloured silk threads

  • warp: black silk thread

Large golden waves are represented on this obi, which appear very warm yellow under certain angles and lighting. Subtle gold speckles also run through the plain black areas, even though it is almost invisible on camera.

When ordering a bumbag, keep in mind that it will not be possible to feature the entire motif on the same bag. Please indicate your favourite part or colour so I can frame it on to your bag when I create it.
