Country flowers

MOTIF

Most kimono items (including obi and all other accessories) will often feature a particular flower in order to fit with a specific season. But it is not rare that the depicted flowers are unknown. Instead of representing one flower for one moment of the year, it is the idea of flowers that is represented. This way, the item can be enjoyed for more occasions throughout the year.

On this obi, the flowers resemble chrysanthemums but are somehow stylized, which makes it less obvious and open to interpretation. Behind the seemingly wild chrysanthemums, rows of gold tortoise shells are displayed.
