Pine firework

Motif

Pine is a very important motif in Japanese aesthetic, and is commonly used pattern for kimonos and traditional textiles. It is often used along with other auspicious motifs like the Crane, or together with plum blossoms and bamboo, representing the three friends of Winter.

On this obi, which is a fukuro obi, the pine motif is combined with descreet cloud shapes and wave curls, and a traditional pattern called hanabishi (a four-petal flower). It is common to see geometrical and natural patterns combined , and in this abstract composition, the pine seems to belong to both categories. The bright gold pine needles with the various colours in the background resemble fireworks bursting.

Textile

This obi is woven with silk and golden lamé threads. The gold is very subtle as you can see on the photos and gives a delicate sheer to the motif.

Framing

When ordering a Phone bag or a Bumbag, you can choose the details and colours of the motif you would like to feature on your bag. A bigger design like the Computer bag or the Weekender will allow the entire motif to show.
