Motif
This obi pattern represents plums, daffadills and chrysanthemums, in full bloom, suggesting an early spring scenery. The elements are arranged in cloud-shaped frames, the meaning of which is explained in the description of the Spring heaven fabric.
The background, composed of small pink circles on white, evokes the patterns of shibori fabrics, a popular tie-and-dye method for kimono silk dying. A multitude of evenly spaced tiny knots is proceeded with hemp strings all over the fabric before dying. After dying, the threads are taken off the silk and leave the fabric undyed, creating a highly textured dotted motif. On this obi the motif is created by weaving, but it is made to match shibori present on the kimono material or any other accessory which will be part of the outfit.
TEXTILE
This obi is woven jacquard silk and lamé gold threads. Due to its high quality, the details of the pattern are very sharp and textured.
