MOTIF

Japanese beliefs place nature at the very heart of their cults. For this reason, many temples and shrines are built on mountains or in forests in order to give thanks to their deities. From the small local shrines to the more important places of pilgrimage, there are probably as many places of worship across Japan as there are mountains and hills...

FABRIC

  • technique: jacquard

  • weft: lamé threads

  • warp: silk

Being manufactured with a lamé thread weft ( a sort of very thin metallic slat ) gives this fabric an intense shine when it moves in the light. Seen from different angles, and depending on the lighting, the shimmering landscape seems to change colour as if the sun was rising or setting upon it.

CUSTOM ORDER

When ordering a bumbag, keep in mind that we will have to focus either on the pagoda motif, or the forest. You can see some examples at the bottom of this page. For larger bags, all the motif can be displayed.
